The Team
Mukul Joshi
The Captain
Ms. Mukul Joshi is the Head of the English Department and a very able one at that. Steering the crew from one successful venture to another, she is easily the Captain of ship. Kind, accommodating and patient, Ms. Joshi is a gold medalist from the Shivaji . Having done her M.Phil on Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Jungle Book’, she is now working on her doctorate thesis on Rudyard Kipling’s short stories. The Department owes a lot of its successes to her able leadership.
Dr. Munira Lokhandwala
The Anchor
At the helm of all the affairs is this bright and vivacious Doctor. Having done her Ph.D. research thesis on nativization in English in five Indian novels, Munira Lokhandwala is a pragmatic for sure, but a fun lover to the core. An excellent administer, she organizes everything from Department events to the daily coffee. One member that we could never do without.
Shaheen Patel
The Artist
Every team needs an artist. Someone who envisions, someone who idealizes. Shaheen Patel gets the creative juices flowing with her aesthetic inclinations. This culture aficiando lover recently completed her M.Phil thesis on ‘Images of women in selected plays of Sophocle and Ibsen’. A culture aficianodo, she is always updated on books, movies and drama.
Shirin Shaikh
The Manager
You cannot run a department without at least one super efficient member. From accounts, to library management, to evaluations to records. If there is one person who manages it all, it is Shirin Shaikh. Punctiliousness and perfection-words that sum up this pretty M.Phil graduate. Ms. Shaikh has done a thesis on ‘Creating word consciousness at the under-graduate level’ and is now extending her research for a doctorate thesis on the same theme.
Zeenat Lokhandwala
The Asset
An adroit, competent and efficacious member and Zeenat Lokhandwala is all this and more. Having done her M.Phil thesis on ‘Challenging patriarchy: portrayal of women in selected plays of Bernard Shaw, Sean O’ Casey, J.M. Synge and Eugene O’ Neil. Ms. Lokhandwala is known not only for her expertise on feminist perspectives on literature but also her understanding disposition.
Mifrah Abid
The Whiz-kid
Bubbly and creative, Ms. Mifrah Abid is the latest entrant into the Department. Ms. Abid has been a student of Abeda Inamdar Senior College herself, and also of the preceding five members.
