State Level Seminar on Indian Writing in English
And
Release of Department published book: English IndianContext
The Department had organized a state level seminar on Indian Writing in English on Saturday, 10th February. The seminar was primarily aimed at Post graduate students and lecturers of English literature. The seminar also marked the release of the book, ‘English in Indian Context’ edited by Ms. Mukul Joshi, Dr. Munira Lokhandwala and Ms. Shaheen Patel of the Department. The book is a compilation of papers presented by professors from all over India in a national conference conducted by the Department three years ago.
The seminar saw the confluence of scholars with diverse fields of expertise and specialization. Keeping in mind the reach of globalization on all aspects of modern life, it was only a matter of time before cultural products like literature were also studied with a non-white, individualistic perspective. Academics, lecturers and students from all over the state assembled for the day long deliberation on the emergence of a growing dialect, Indian English and the trends in Indian English literature.
